Approved by Adoption by Jung
I was on the jury at this year's Zagreb animation festival and while I think Chris Sullivan's Consuming Spirits is THE best animated feature of the last year plus, I could live with awarding Approved for Adoption the festival Grand Prize. This was a pleasant surprise. A great animation film stems from having a good, solid story to tell. Technique alone won't save you if your concept is crap. Technique alone is nothing. Sadly, that's the biggest problem with animation today and that's why films like Consuming Spirits and Approved for Adoption should be celebrated, cherished, and seen.
