Production Begins on ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’
Gotta go really, really, fast. Paramount’s surprise 2019 hit Sonic’s sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was announced in February, and now production has officially begun. What a turnover! Director Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to reveal the super speedy news.

While all other production and plot details remain under wraps, the new logo Fowler’s post points to Miles "Tails" Prower, the two-tailed fox. We do know that several cast members from the original film are set to return for the sequel, including Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Jim Carrey in the role of Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to premiere in theaters on April 8, 2022. Hopefully, cinemas will be up and running full speed by then so we can see if the sequel can best the original’s $319 million global box office haul.
