Thanks Jeff! Good to see you around! When I was struggling with hands I studied Milt Khal's work. His drawings of hands are simply awesome. Here's some more stuff! Cheers

HARLEY! As long as you have the CN connection, I'd love to see you "accidentally" work on more WB stuff. I wonder how the new 'Bats cartoon is faring.

Jabberwocky's picture

I love Man-Bat, Clayface and especially Catwoman. Killer Croc's body is great but I'd have made his face more reptile. Harley - well, no offense but she looks a lot like the WB model. I'd say there's more potential.

Thanks for the comps guys! Yeah, Paige is a darling. Right now she is going over the fussy period of 6-8 weeks. Hopefully after this she'll become more relaxed. No matter how much she fusses and cries, I'll always love her though! Here's a pic I did that was inspired by Chap03's Robot Forest pic. Cheers!

Man I just have to say that I find your artwork and characters really inspiring. Your style is alot like what I have been trying to acheive with my own characters. I've been trapped at home for the past couple of months because I broke my back at work (be careful when you go to the home depot is all i have to say) and I really look forward to seeing your posts for inspiration:D. Keep up the great work.

hahaha. oh man, have you seen that movie lately? i remember watching it when i was younger, and thinking it was cool to have a movie about nintendo games. but i just happen to watch it recently on good ol' VHS, and it's terrible! haha. its like one big nintendo commercial. anyways, awesome stuff as usual dan!

"i love the power glove, it's so bad!"

Those are really amazing pieces of work. really great. :D
i need some information from you. might be a little childish question, but what kind of pen do use for your drawings? seriously. whatever i have used i simply dont seem to be able to get the sharpness as yours. thats why all the sketches i have posted i have done them using pencils alone.
anyway once more...really amazing pieces of art.

tehfuzzbomb's picture

yeah! my friend had it on vhs in college and we watched it at least once every year.

You have a nice variety of eye types/shapes in your designs. How do you decide which kind to implement during your creative process?

Thanks for the comps Cale! Glad you like my work! At the moment, I work at a studio in town, and I'm working on designs for a pitch to some bigger studios. I can't go into too much detail due to the contracts and such. Thanks again! Here's some quick ones I did last night of some Bats villains. I like some of the designs for the new show, but not all of them. The new Riddler looks too much like Marilyn Manson:(

Hey Dan great work. I really dig ur style. It's funny in my new gig i have to try and make characters more angular in the way that u make them. Could u give any advice to a fellow animator as to how u think when u do ur drawing or how u come the the decisions as to which lines to make sharp and which to curve. I would really appreciate it.

Also i really dig ur Tutorial I will try it as soon as i get a chance.

The pencilled guys at the bottom, those are Superman villains, aren't they? That imp on the left has to be Mr Mxyzptlk.

Thanks for the comps guys! Yup those are Superman baddies Jabs, and that is indeed Mr.M! Damage glad you like the style, I hope all is well with the baby too! When I was starting to draw in this style I referenced lots of Mary Blair, Iron Giant and the Incredibles. I would just seek ref out for those and practice those styles. If you can, try and track down the online tutorial with Chen Yi Chang, that really influenced me too. If you can't find it pm me k. Thanks again!

Salute

Funny you should mention him. A month or two ago, I found an online lecture by him through the Drawn! blog. Its long but extremely interesting from an industry professional. Its free and you can see it here.

Not sure if that is the tutorial you were talking about.

P.S.--Oh, and being a huge Superman fan (hence the name Kal El), I really enjoyed the Superman drawings.

Wow Danimation, can't find words to say how much i love your sketches. It seems to me, that you've something in you mind, you just grab your pencil, and the exact picture in your head is on the paper whithin 2 seconds!!!

If I could draw one day like you, I would be the happiest girl all over the world!!!!

Sabertooth, yes?
I had the honour of working with some of your character designs for the last couple of weeks. You know, Fly Guy and his lot. (Got to tweak 'em some, but not much.) Really a breeze working with them, too, very drawable!

Love the picture.

My guess is that its Lobo.

I concur. Lobo sounds more likely.

I think others would agree when I say, got any construction drawings to show us? I'd love to see how you go about building your characters. The gestures are great (something I'm working on strengthening) and their expressions are wonderful.

Keep up the good work.

Hey Dan awsome work as always. Haven't been around the boards as much lately, work has got me busy as hell and that is a good thing. I luv the tutorial u posted awhile back and was woundering if u have any more. Also i didn't have much luck finding the guy u had mention to me but i think someone here posted a link and i checked it out. Was that what u had mentioned?? Sorry to bring this up so lates as it has been a couple of months.

I hope to get my own webspace soon so i can again beging posting images. That Creature from the black lagoon of urs has inspired me to try and do a warewolf type one or Drack himself. Great work and keep it up.
