Help photoshop/pencil question

Hi my name is chet,im 14,and i want to be an animator.

i have a question about pencil's and/or/ photoshop.when i scan my inked drawings in they are never completley black so when i digitally color them they dont look very nice.Is it alright to take these inked drawings and just adjust the contrast in picture it(software like photoshop) so that they look black?

Should i change from an inking pen to a black pencil? Is there a better way to do this?

thanks for your time.

Hmm... without seeing an actual sample it's hard to completely answer this question. But I think the general answer is that it's okay if it suits your needs. There's no moral law that says you can't adjust brightness and contrast or color of scanned images and then use them in animation. If you like the look, go for it. I've used photoshop to touch up photos and drawings, and it does a nice job for the most part. If you're comfortable with it, then it's okay.

Does that answer your question?

I haven't asked my animators about this recently, but I believe they adjust the brightness/contrast in Photoshop until the drawing is completely black-and-white. I also think theyre's some sort of black-and-white function or filter that will make the drawing completely black-and-white (no greys).
