I just made a little linetest walkcycle, only 6 frames. Just to look, if it would work. I decided that it won't. :((
I don't think it's clear here...
I want him to have a very arrogant, kind of "know-it-all" walk.
How could I improve this???

(Sorry, very bad quality and short....)
Thanks
I got a broken link.

Should work now....sorry...

ok, I did a new upload.
I rendered it with avid, and it was the first time I used this program, so I don't know much about its compression options.
Anyway, now the video is veeeeeery small.
here's the link

Hope it'll work finally and you can help me.
Thanks

looks great bandita :D
I wish i could see it bigger but it looks fine to me.I like the design of the chicken and it hink he does walk kinda aragantly.I think you did verry well. :D
too small, too light!
but it looks like its just keyframes. throw in some more inbetweens. Then we will really be able to see it.
so far they look like good poses.
"who wouldn't want to make stuff for me? I'm awesome." -Bloo
Very...uh...cocky walk. How appropriate.:) Yes, rough in black throw some rough inbetweens in and let's see it again. But it looks good so far.
hmmm..
you say you want him to be a know it all type of guy, arogant fellow...right??
In my mind,I picture someone who thinks that because he knows it all, he's on top of the world, he 's inc ontrol.. therefore??
why hurry?
let's just take our time..MY time.. and .. let everybody see me take my time...
meaning...
What I am seeing in your animation, to me, ( and, as a disclaimer, i'm saying that it is just MY opinion), is someone who is very intent on something.
mean probably, but not necessarily arrogant or know it all.
My suggestion would be for you to look at your animation and try to "hear" what your character thinks while he's doing his walk.
if you can hear him think what you believe is an arrogant guy, than..you got it..
if you have a hard time doing that..my guess is that you may want to rethink it.
P.
This is what I did out of my walkcycle....
Thanks for all your advices. I did the Cycle again.
hope you like it.... if not, i'm sorry.... have to go over to the next scene...
short deadline...

wow..
that's quite a change!!!!
NOW..to me this does read of..I know it all type of guy!!
Nicely done!!
I have to say that I admire a person that throws his/her stuff out there , takes in the comments makes the best of it AND acts on it.
miss bandita...
CHAPEAU BAS as the french would say!!
in other words..
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
What is this for by the way??
P.
Ohhhh thanks! This is sooo good to hear, because it took me a lot of work, I had some PC problems and was at panic stations.
It's for my application film for university... wanna study animation and hope they like my film....

(^__^)
good luck for your application.

i actually liked the first one better.I suppose its because i didnt like your coloring on either the chicken or the background. If you like it thats all that matters its just too computer-ry looking for my tastes. As far as the general animation goes i like it though now that i see the character bigger and colored some of his charm has been taken away.
I like flat colors with little to no shading and i like my characters with either a ton of detail or very simplistic lol.I think my taste's are kinda unusual and so i truly dont think you should take my comments very hard.I dont mean any harm its just some tips.
my philosophy on crit's is this
1.if you think its fine than it is fine no matter what anyone says.
2.if you hear a crit and you think if you started doing to your stuff would look better take the crit however if someone gives you a crit like ''i think there should be less shadows'' and you dont think making less shadows would benefit you then dont take the crit.
so if you think any of the things i said would improve your animation take them.If you dont then dont take it and dont think of it too much. :D
btw use putfile to host your video's.they let you store 10 mb per video and have unlimited uploads. You can also upload musc and images.

Thanks for your critic Thunder.
As im mixing up 3D and 2D, I've got to give some shadow to the characters, so that everything matches better. But, thats not the only reason, I like shadow :D Unfortunately my time is runnig away, and I'm not able to make "true" shadow, by drawing shadowlines... that's just the economical comprimse variant... ;))
But if shadow or not is matter of taste. And that tastes are different is as everybody knows a good thing.
Thanks for the link. I was searching for something like this very long...

im glad you viewed it that way.Its just a matter of taste :D
i like it.
its good except for the little floaty bit mentioned before and you are aware of.
good stuff.

Try as I may, I can't view it. Isn't QuickTime 5.0 high enough? Any chance you can make this downloadable?
Yeah... Thanks to Thunderobot, I was able to upload it on putfile.
It's a little bit bigger too.

Geht nüscht. Mein QuickTime ist wohl zu alt.
I'll try putfile.com soon, too. I've been locking for quite some while for a place to upload pencil tests.
Updated QuickTime, now I can see it. Very nice, very solid - and completely in colour! Great effort! The one minor detail I'd quibble with is the changing volume of the rooster's left arm as he swings it, but that's not much, really.

I completed the scene... you can find the link in my gallery...

that is a very nice walk cycle bandita! it looks great. the twist in the upper body works well. i especially like the suddle bounce on his beak and on the red things. heh, sorry i dont know what they are called. the coloring is very nice also. i wish you luck on your application.
Thanks Brien! I'm glad you like it... :p

Going to Univ to study animation? You could probably teach it.
Anyway it looks very professional.
[Forget what you read in this post before my edit; it looks fine]
Oh Graphiteman, that flatters me so much. Thank you! It's enormously exaggerated, but I think you wanted to say, that you like it.
Hope if I have problems with another scene again, I could post my linetests here again....

slider
Great attitude!
Great Drawings!
There something about the feet that hit the ground that bothers me tho...
It feels like it is "sliding". The idea of the the foot being pinned is there, but I do think you have to take a little bit more care keeping that foot where it belongs; toes and all. I guess the foot can squash and stretch the foot if you'd like, but you have to be careful because you have to conphensate for how far the toes will extend to the front of the body and the heel will extend to the rear of the body. In this walk, I can't tell if you thought about that. There's something all too bouncy about the foot hitting the ground and propelling the rooster's body up that makes it a slidy. If he was walking on the moon, I might buy this....on a classroom woodfloor....no.
These are great silhouettes!
I think you're inches away from a great walk cycle!
Am I crazy?
Somebody tell me I'm crazy:)

:o
Yes, I'm aware of this sliding thing. I hope I can improve this when I recompose the scene.
One the next cycle, I'll do better. I got many advices on this cycle, so that I can avoid these misstakes the next time. Thanks for that!
And, yes... hmmm, ... he's very bouncy.... ;)
But I think I'd like to keep that style, in my whole film...
http://violabaier.blogspot.com/
a million ways
There are a million ways to make a walk work. I know like 6 of them:)
There's detail and then there's innovation. Innovation is cooler:)
Keep it up:)

This is what I was going to suggest in my last post...but it was kind of hypocritical becasue in Flash I sort of eyeball it or do what feels right. I think it looks fine but the formula is when you have a "treadmill" walk cycle and want pan the cycle across, measure from toe to other toe in the full stride before the front foot makes contact and divide that by the number of drawings. That will give you the increments to move your character...and also the increments for the background if your character is stationery.
I don't know how to measure in any program though.
Yes it still looks great.
