Reanimator: advanced character animation system for flash

By Jarrad | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 8:58pm

I am looking for testers(animators) I think the users on AWN might be able to help :)

Reanimator is a character animation system for flash that will dramatically reduce your production time.

Some of reanimators features include:

Forward Kinematics,
Inverse Kinematics,
Constraints and Pinning
Reusable and Shareable animation sequences(via the library)
Custom Tweening including Presets
Seemless Integration Into the flash Authoring Environment
Works with FlashMX04 and higher

What does this all mean??
Well it means you can create a basic skeleton for your character and pose him like a puppet,
reanimator then does all the inbetweening for you!
Giving you unmatched control and speed in your animation process than ever before!

Reanimator will integrate into your existing workflow OR
you can now work with entire characters ON ONE LAYER!

You are all invited to get the first taste of a new way
of animating in flash!

You can apply for the preview release here!

If you have any comments or questions please feel free to ask :)

I signed up last Wednesday night and haven't gotten anything. The other links on the site don't work either.
(they must be overwhelmed by requests?)

Thank-you everyone for applying,
We got an overwhelming responce.

If you havent applied yet consider applying, as the system becomes more stable we will increase the amount of beta testers, which we will get from the applications sent in :)

A handful of Beta testers have been selected and are currently testing.

Ape, I am the creator :)

Rozzco, it should work wherever flash mx04 and above works.. so yes :)

Oh and to those who want to check out reanimator in action see:

Yes it is free :)

Well the idea for bones has existed in 3D animation for a long time,
its a pretty natural transition to 2D where it can be just as useful.

I have tried moho its a nice program but its SWF export isnt the best,
most flash developers would prefer to just stay in flash.

Hoep that answers your question :)

This looks totally awesome! I have signed up! I looked into moho for the bones feature, but the drawing tools were sorely lacking, so I never really got into it. I'll post a link on my forums as well!

i am surprised flash does not already have this. I have always wanted such a thing.

I mean after effects has forward kinematics and its not even as much an animation program as flash is.

I.K for flash is an idea that is due but can an animator still play an instance from a symbol on a bone?

Yes it certainly does, If i understand your question correctly.

Symbols on each pose can be set, reanimator will then tween between the graphic symbols start frames.

Which means that say within a graphic symbol you had an arm bending between frame 1 and 10.

Then reanimator's first pose you set the symbols to frame 1, and in the second pose you set them to frame 10. Reanimator will play the animation between 1 and 10 :)

This looks pretty cool Jarrad. I've never advocated the need for bones in Flash, but I can see it's usefulness. I do like the freedom of being able to manipulate symbols frame by frame durring the motion. Like like squash, stretch and smears. The only way to see if this works with Reanimator is to give it a try.

Out of curiosity, what is your affiliation with Re-animator?
