Flash Animation in the USA?

For anyone out there that is looking for a Flash Animator or knows about any companies that are. I've applied for positions all over the internet: AWN's job board, Monster, ColdHardFlash, Yahoo, etc, with very limited response. If anyone can give me any tips or helpful information about flash animation out there, it would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone interested, here is a link to my Flash Demo Reel:

Hi Potatos, welcome to the AWN Forums. You're not going to get much work just posting your demo reel and resume on websites. You have to actively pursue studios. Both Cartoon Network Studios and Renegade Animation, both in Los Angeles, are looking for animators. Contact them to find out how to send in your work. They will want you to move to Los Angeles though. Not many studios are open to artist working remotely, esspecially new artists.

Good luck,

Hot potatoe!

22 megs is asking for a LOT of patience!

Plus you mention that you didn't do this, or design that...I'd be more specific up front. Leave no doubt!

Just my $0.02.

Cheers!

additional material after downloading demo reel

If you actually want to sell yourself as a Flash animator. Perhaps you should rethink your portfolio. Those that can really produce in Flash can also produce short samples in swf format that can be sampled much more quickly than a 22meg quicktime.

I am still waiting for it to download. I'll get back to you in an hour or two.

Actually I jumped the gun and tried to access your digital pictures and the sketchbook area on your site, and they only partially load before they go in to slideshow mode and flip without control. I realize I am on dialup and a slower older computer but so are others.

And even your pdf resume is over a meg for one page. Why not provide a html summary for those that want to access it on the net. Not everyone wants to print it out at super high quality.

What percentage of the weight of that file was the background music? Why not include some brief voice over segements rather than a generic musical number? Did you give the musicians' credit. I didn't see it. I have no idea why your file was so large you reused animation, and the characters were nothing fresh from what I've seen before.

Sorry to be harsh. But you seem to be actively seeking work...what exactly makes you stand out? I saw very little that was fresh or original. I basically saw a collection of walk studies and camera zooms put together with a musical background.
