After watching the 'Animation Mentor eCritique' I could not understand one thing that was said. "Over lapping" was mention a number of time and I am not sure what he is referring too. So is there some simple example of over lapping that someone could share?
Good examples and a definition are in the "bible" : The Illusion of Life by Thomas & Johnston, in the chapter on The 12 Principles of Animation. I'd suggest you take a look there first.
Overlapping action occurs because not all parts of a character start and stop moving at the same time.
