'Rebuttal' by Steven Woloshen
Technically speaking this is the second time that the Canadian experimental animator, Steven Woloshen has done the popular animation interview series, I Have a Question. However, looking back, it really more of a chat about his short film, Casino than an in-depth philosophical discussion about the layers of his inner being.
So, folks, that said, Woloshen reluctantly agreed to meet me in a Tim Hortons’ drive-thru on a cold Sudbury Saturday night to finally, at long eager last, discuss his complex inner layers.
I get the greatest pleasure from....
Sitting down. This is a good thing. If I’m sitting, it follows that I’m either playing with film, in an airplane, taxiing on the runway onto my next filmmaking workshop or siting on a ski lift, headed towards the top of a snow-capped mountain.
The trait I like least about myself is
Who are you caller a traitor? Oops. I guess that’s my worst trait; Not listening. If I listened more… then I could learn more.
The book I value above all others is
I always carry my notebook. It was given to me by Drew Barrymore. Other than that, I will always come back to Bergson. I try to read a page a day. It’s my new cinema workbook and its better than reading grumpy critics.
Woloshen at work and play
A (non-family member) person I have high respect for is.... because…
Everyone… except: politicians, old doctors, young dentists, new-age hypo-therapists, slow drivers, people who talk with lilts, complainers, the guy in the seat in front of me, the guy in the seat behind me, people who love digital files, people who kick animals, snowplow operators, people who complain about OIAF.
