i prefer treating a film/short/style on its merit. for me one of the coolest things ever was the Program short from Animatrix, i thought it was fantastic, at the same time i liked the effort something like Akira took but i find it too taxing to watch and get into.
i think you will find a lot of people here with strong opinions on certain subjects but i dont think Anime or anything else here is frowned upon.
When I was studying fine arts in the late sixties, illustration was the big "bug a boo". Instructors couldn't stand to hear you mention Norman Rockwell, without jumping all over you. It's the same way with Anime with the current animation schools, and this attitude rubs off with the students copping an elitist attitude.
Me personnally I enjoy anything that is well thought out and presented well. Even some that aren't.
I think you guys are posting in the wrong forum. Why does this "Diemeras Identification" topic keep popping up everywhere? Do you all really care about it that much? Let's stick to animation please. :)
Yes, I really do need medication, some pain killers because you guys are really becoming a pain in the butt.:D :D :p
Post the web address of your production company, or post screenshots of your TV series, or post scans of your six college degrees (with your name blacked out, if necessary), and put all these doubts to rest. Plenty of people here post links to their real names and production credits. Surely, you can.

I understand that I must have proof to back my claims, but you don't get it, I cannot disclose any visual info regarding my show until it airs because I am bounded by a legal contract,
1- I am 17 years old, breach of contract is indefinite for me, I already did that, because I told you a little about my work and myself.
2- Why do I have to post my 6 degrees on line, are you mad, no one else has done that, and never will.
I cannot believe you would want me to scan my degrees on the internet, insane, even if I do that, what would I prove? You tell me.......... come on, your intrusion is becoming undeniably peculiar and out of line. I will not be the vain of your nonscense, do understand my point.

all i will say is from day one the thing that makes me suspicious is how he writes/talks.
no one speaks like that to begin with. Def no 17 year old. I dont care if you went to Eton.
I happen to be a writer skinny, I have been doin this since in primary school
I always say, I write better than I speak, I do not wish to use slang here because I find it in appropriate, you are respectable adults, and I am around that everyday so.....when I'M HERE, I "talk" like a noble adult.

As the title said, Is anime frowned upon in this thread? say like Naruto. . . or a more obvouis Dragon Ball Z?
Only by some. Most here recognize that there's good and bad anime, just as there's good and bad of any art, and as Harvey pointed out in the most recent thread on the topic, there's often more grabage than not with any art form and anime is no exception.
I only like about 5% of all the animation out there. My 5% is different from everyone else's 5%, and I respect that variety of tastes. There should be animation for everyone, not just for people with similar tastes as mine.
People who say that this or that type of animation should be eliminated - as I've witnessed in narrow-minded anti-anime, anti-adult animation, anti-King of the Hill, anti-Polar Express, and anti-mocap posts, from idiots who gloat when a show they didn't like is cancelled - are stupidly ignoring a tremendous asset: variety.
Whereas twenty years ago animation was only being made for children in order to market the latest toy fad, today animation is increasingly being created for all sorts of tastes and age groups. A variety of animation content and styles makes a more cohesive and more popular industry.
I use terms "anime" and "manga" only so we are on the same page.
But to me there are only "animation" and "comics" and some are good and some are bad.
When I look closely at Japanese cartoons I do see differences between them. Sure there are cultural influences for why some visual cliches are the way they are but there are distinct styles. It's kind of like summing up western cartoons as either Marvel comics or Disney when we know those names conjure up many appraoches.
So I like anything that's good. ANime is not all the same...and youngsters, it isn't one style; it's not about drawing big eyes ;It's about good drawing, period.

Nicely put. And along with variety comes more job opportunities. More job opportunities means more work doing what I love. And that, my friends, is a very good thing.
Now this is just becoming an extension of the last anime thread, which is really not necessary unless we want to have that conversation all over again.
Next time, Rozzco, just append your response to the existing threads.
Anime stinks/rocks
Mocap is bad/good
2D is dead
I like stop motion
How do I get started in animation?
I'm crazy and need some attention

Vindicated by his own web of lies. Or, dark angel, is it HER web of lies? Mwahahhaha!
Yeah, so I'm with Harvey on this one. DA is fulluvit. The diff between me an Harvey? I know DA is fulluvit, so I don't even bother asking for proof.
Sorry DIEMERAS.
Easy, now. Let's not get carried away. There IS an outside chance that things are as DDA describes them. It's rare, but it has happened before.
I'm in the "eyebrow raised in incredulity" group for sure, but I still think we need to remail civil.
There is a third option here as well, and I know we've all thought about it. Just don't say something you'll regret...
