Help getting started

I have been learning Animation Master and now I am learning Maya and I am hooked. I would really like to pursue animation as a career. As I am a newbie I was hoping someone outthere could give me some tips and/or pointers on: type of school to look for - online, any groups that would be good to join to network, etc.
