A great loss, one of the champions of the new era-post Eisner. He will be missed.

Roy, a real gentleman
Hello.
Roy will really be missed. For years, he was one of animation's champions, especially 2D. He really was a humble, gentle person.
I got to chat with him a hand full of times. He used to stop by the Disney Institute and walk into classes - what a thrill for the guests! We first met at the Smithsonian Institute and then at the Disney Institute and at other times. He has a castle off the coast near Cork and we would share our "Irish" experiences.
He brought the company back from the brink a couple of times - he never doubted what he did. He loved animation the the Disney animation heritage.
What a great person!

Wow, that's sad.
I remember the only time I saw him in real life, which was 2003 in Annecy when he came on the stage one summer evening to introduce the open-air screening of Fantasia 2000.
Let's hope he has found a worthy spiritual heir in Lasseter for classical animation. A start has been made.
rest in peace
Never got to meet the gentleman, but was fun to see him fight the good fight!
Cheers,
