ASIFA-SF hosts a reception for composer/musician Nik Phelps (of Sprocket Ensemble fame) featuring good conversations and light refreshments. Phelps is visiting from Belgium where he has been creating work for TV in the U.K., Canada, etc. and for independent animators including Nina Paley. Feel welcomed to bring nice things to eat and/or drink to share. ASIFA-SF will provide some of the basics at the home of Ron Merk, 379 Highland Ave in Bernal Heights. There is generally lots of parking around Holly Park Circle, a little more than one block away from Ron's new home. Ron has directed, written and/or produced several features including MARCO POLO: RETURN TO XANADU (2001, fully animated) PINOCCHIO'S BIRTHDAY PARTY (1974, a puppet and actors) and TURLIS ABENTEUER (1967). It will take place at 3:00 pm.
