Larry Lauria will be teaching two animation workshops at the Jepson Art Center, part of the Telfair Museum in Savannah, Georgia. The winter session dates are Jan 28-Feb 22, and the spring session dates are April 14-May 23.
"Character Design for Teens" will give kids 13-16 an overview of the art of animation. Participants will explore the basics of animation, weight, speed, timing, etc. through the creation of flipbooks, stop-motion projects, clay character animation, and drawing. The price, including materials, is $80 for members and $90 for non-members. Classes will take place on Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
Based on the Jepson Center exhibition "Leadership: Oliphant Cartoons and Sculpture from the Bush Years," "Character Design" will teach techniques to sketch and design cartoon characters. Lauria will guide you through the basics of animation and cartoon character development. A supply list will be provided. The price is $80 for members and $100 for non-members. Classes will take place on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
