Center for Visual Music and MOCA are pleased to present the world premiere of Jordan Belson's new videofilm, Epilogue (2005). A pure Visual Music experience, Belson has distilled 60 years of visionary sound and images into a 12 minute film, synchronized to a symphonic tone poem by the great lyric composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Epilogue was commissioned by The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden for the "Visual Music" exhibition, produced by Center for Visual Music, and supported by The NASA Art Program and CVM. Epilogue will be presented in a short program with several of Belson's earlier films, including Light and Music of the Spheres. Program will be introduced by Cindy Keefer, Director of CVM.
Beginning June 23, Epilogue can also be seen in the "Visual Music" exhibition at The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.
This program is presented in conjunction with MOCA's presentation of Visual Music. Visual Music surveys the charged and profoundly generative relationship between art and music over the last 100 years. Featuring masterpieces of modern and contemporary art, the exhibition presents successive explorations of the idea of synaesthesia, offering a chronological exhibition of the relationship between abstraction, color, and music forms as varied as classical, jazz, rock, and electronic.
