I promised Dan I would click on the advertisements at the top and I watched the clip. Wondering what others thought of it. It looks promising to me, but right now the clip basicaly focusses on the camera angles and and 3d scrolling. I'd like to see more of the character myself.

I like how it looks and feels like old Disney. The crane shot over the city looked like it might have been done on an old multi-plane animation stand, nice and subtle (rather than done with cgi, where they would have zoomed in like an Apache helicopter).
Yeah, seeing more character work would have been desirable. What you get looks like it's beautifully done, but you don't get much of a sense of the personalities, other than the girl looked sweet, innocent and utterly without irony or pop culture reference. And she's a pyro. (thus I've just stopped production on my short, "Little Magnifying Glass and the sun Boy".)

She's a "pyro" meaning what? the character was developed through robotics. I guess I am out of the loop on this one. Please, explain.

Sorry, guess the heat got to me you mean her attraction to matches. Got it now....It's been over 100 degrees here for the last twelve days you have to excuse me. It's getting to me.

I thought it was a lovely short film- beautiful layouts and animation. I have some problems with it because I'm anal about fairy tale adaptations. She's supposed to be an abused and neglected street urchin- yet she bounces around in the beginning with that Disney Princess spunk, and her plump cheeks are certainly *not* those of a starving child. Admittedly, depicting the little girl that way I always imagined her might be too dismal for young audiences. But I am pleased that Disney at least didn't shy away from the little girl's chilly demise. Overall, its not the greatest, but only because I expect nothing less than perfection from Disney. If Dreamworks or Warner Bros. had made this film, I betcha there wouldn't be any controversey around it.
