Intensive multi-day workshop is designed to offer new opportunities for Native American writers, filmmakers and artists interested in breaking into animation; early entry deadline is October 9.
In partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal, The LA Skins Fest is accepting applications for the 2nd Annual Native American Animation Lab. This is an intensive, multi-day virtual workshop taking place December 7–11 that provides creative development of a current project, meetings with corporate partners and pitching opportunities. It includes group discussions, one on one meetings, and extensive instruction on developing an animation project.
All participants chosen for the lab will workshop one animation project through one-on-one mentoring, group sessions and peer workshops. The program will conclude with an intensive pitching session for each participant. The overall goal is to create genuine career building connections within the animation industry.
This is an in-depth workshop for Native Americans who have a script, a treatment, animated film, an original comic book, or visual materials they want to develop into an animated television series or feature film.

We intend to grow that opportunity and push our people to the forefront of entertainment.”
The Native American Animation Lab was created in accordance with the LA Skins Fest’s mission to improve media portrayals of Native Americans and to increase the number of Native Americans employed in all facets of the media industry.

Now entering its 14th year, The LA Skins Fest is a Native American arts initiative that offers an annual film festival as well as year around development opportunities for emerging Native American actors, writers, and directors. It is a project of the Barcid Foundation; a non-profit organization that focuses on multimedia programming in indigenous communities.
