3D Robert Zemeckis Feature Set for 2015

TriStar Productions sets director Robert Zemeckis’ next as-yet untitled feature, based on high-wire walker Philippe Petit’s memoirs, “To Reach the Clouds,” for October 2, 2015.

TriStar Productions has slated director Robert Zemeckis’ next as-yet untitled feature for October 2, 2015, according to a report by Variety.

The Zemeckis feature is based on high-wire walker Philippe Petit’s memoirs, “To Reach the Clouds,” and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon and James Badge Dale.

Shot in 3D, the film follows Philippe Petit, who in 1974 fulfilled a six-year plan of stringing a wire between the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and spent hours walking back and forth across the steel cable, 1,350 feet above the air.

The film will be one of the first projects under the leadership of Tom Rothman, who took over as head of Sony’s TriStar Productions August 1, 2013. According to Deadline, it carries on the spirit of experiential 3D films made under his reign at Fox, including James Cameron’s Avatar and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.
