AI Unleashed - Shout! Studios Drops ‘Absolute Denial’ Trailer

Ryan Braund’s 2D animated thriller looks at what happens when artificial intelligence evolves beyond expectations, blurring the line between reality and fantasy, coming to theaters and digital platforms in December.

Shout! Studios has released a trailer for writer, director, and animator Ryan Braund’s new animated feature, Absolute Denial. In the film, set in the not-too-distant future, a genius programmer sacrifices everything to build a powerful supercomputer – with the machine’s AI evolving beyond expectations, the lines between reality and fantasy become increasingly blurred. In collaboration with SC Films International and Bridge Way Films, the 2D sci-fi animated thriller hits theaters and major digital entertainment platforms December 6.

In the movie, computer programmer David becomes obsessed with building a computer capable of learning and generating its own superintelligence - an improvement on the inferior human brain. After spending his entire savings on warehouse space and computer parts, David brings his Frankenstein-esque supercomputer to life. He feeds it more and more information from every possible resource and powers it enough to keep its circuits and flashing lights alive. David becomes increasingly isolated from friends and lulled into a false sense of security by the “absolute denial” command inserted in the coding. His grasp of reality begins to slip as he is sucked in by the computer convincing him it has escaped its walls. Where does reality end and computer simulation begin, and who runs the show? …man, or machine?

An official selection of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Sitges – Catalonian International Film Festival, Absolute Denial received several nominations, including a Contrechamp Award nomination from Annecy for Best Film, an Anima’t Award from Sitges for Best Animated Feature, and multiple award nominations from Trieste Science + Fiction Festival for Best International Science Fiction Film and Best European Feature-Length Film.
