AMC has ordered six episodes of THE WALKING DEAD, a new series based on Robert Kirkman's zombie apocalypse graphic novel series, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Frank Darabont wrote and will direct the series, which is being produced by Gale Anne Hurd.
AMC bought the rights to the series in August and ordered a pilot in January, which is still casting. Jon Bernthal (THE GHOST WRITER) has already been cast as Shane, the best friend of the lead character officer Rick Grimes.
Production will take place in Atlanta in June with the network eyeing an October premiere to coincide with its Fearfest marathon.
