With little over a month to go, the AniMazSpot 2012 animation festival, September 10 - 16, is picking up the pace. The Official Festival Poster is being put up around animation community gathering spots. The fourth and last quarter of entries is with the international jury panel, which is now selecting the final quarterly winners and the category nominations for the year. There are now eight Tours, the latest being Disney Video Games, and more to come.
But, the event that seem to be attracting the most attention is “Magoo at the Alex,” and AniMazSpot’s newly formed Events Coordination Arm is organizing a major red carpet event for the Alex Theatre, or as they put it:
The historic Alex Theatre in Glendale will be the host venue for two “Magoo at the Alex” events on Saturday, September 15. The afternoon event, “I ❤ UPA”, at 3:30, will feature premier animation professionals paying homage to UPA’s influence, showing clips of their work and UPAs, and reminiscing about UPA with moderator, animator and historian, Tom Sito... then, come and reminisce about your favorite Mister Magoo moments, while mingling with industry professionals, and animation enthusiasts in the forecourt reception and fluidly segue under a night of stars for the evening screening at 7pm of “Magoo at the Oscars,” all fifteen UPA Oscar nominations and winners, plus, five Magoo favorites, all being shown in gorgeously restored 35mm prints from Sony Pictures.
