FxGuide reports that Santa Monica-based Asylum Visual Effects is closing. Word has hit the Internet that a company meeting was called and the entire staff was let go. The studio had recently provided vfx for Tony Scott's UNSTOPPABLE. Company head Nathan McGuinness received an Oscar nod for the company's work on MASTER & COMMANDER. Their other credits include SORCERER’S APPRENTICE, CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and TERMINATOR SALVATION, as well as many commercials.
