Avatar Holds Momentum While Three Films Break $50 Million at Box Office

Three films raked in more than $50 million over the weekend, Dec. 25-27, while AVATAR barely lost any momentum from its opening week. James Cameron's AVATAR stayed in the lead, earning $75 million for Fox in its second week.

SHERLOCK HOLMES brought in $65.4 million and the #2 spot for Warner Bros. ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKQUEL earned $50.2 million and the #3 spot for Fox.

Universal's IT'S COMPLICATED brought in $22.1 million and the #4 spot. UP IN THE AIR from Paramount earned $11.8 million and the #5 spot.

THE BLIND SIDE from Warner Bros. earned $11.7 million and the #6 spot over its sixth week in theaters.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG from Buena Vista grossed $8.7 million in its fifth week in theaters, claiming the #7 spot.  NINE from The Weinstein Company earned $5.5 million and the #8 spot in its second week.

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS? raked in $5 million and the #9 spot for Sony in its second week. INVICTUS from Warner Bros. rounded out the top 10, raking in $4.4 million in its third week.
