Barbara Marshall Upped at Encore Hollywood

In a precursor to a vigorous new expansion effort, Ascent Media Creative Services Group has promoted Barbara Marshall to managing director of its Encore Hollywood post-production facility.

Marshall, formerly director of Encore Visual Effects, will oversee the new expansion, which will, among other things, enable the facility to provide a full complement of Digital Intermediate post services for the feature film market. The facility is currently building a state-of-the-art color correction theater and is fully integrating MTIs Control Dailies product for high definition film dailies. The new DI systems will be integrated with the facilitys existing visual effects and 3D workstations via a high-speed data infrastructure and storage area network. Feature post services will also be supported by Ascent Medias UP Satellite and UP Web remote collaboration services.

Barbara has done a fantastic job in making Encore Hollywood a premiere provider of visual effects services for episodic television, said Ascent Media Creative Services Group president Bob Solomon.

In addition, Tim Jacobsen has been named to fill Marshalls former post as director of Encore Visual Effects. Jacobsen has been a visual effects producer at Encore Hollywood for six years. Additionally, Barry Goldscher has been promoted to director of operations. He formerly served as technical operations supervisor.

Marshall has served as director of Encore Visual Effects since 2002, during which time the facility has become one of the top providers of visual effects services for episodic television in Hollywood. Marshall has overseen visual effects work for the HBO series SIX FEET UNDER, DEADWOOD and CARNIVALE, Fox HOUSE, and CBS JAG and NAVY NCIS.

Additionally, she has increased Encore Hollywoods role as a provider of visual effects for commercials and music videos. The facilitys recent credits include ads for Samsung, McDonalds and LifeSavers, and music videos for such artists as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Velvet Revolver and Chingy.

We have a great team of artists, producers, engineers and support personnel who prove their talent and dedication every day, said Marshall. I am proud to have this opportunity to continue to work with them and to support their efforts in delivering superior post-production services to our clients.

Marshall added that she looks forward to the introduction of DI services this summer and the opportunity to extend Encore Hollywoods reach into feature film post-production.

Marshall began her career as an assistant to producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Richard Donner. She later joined the production company Sacret Inc. at Warner Bros. as a co-producer on the television series CHINA BEACH. Her background also includes three years at ABC Prods., serving as director of post-production on a number of episodic and movie-of-the-week projects. She joined Encore Hollywood in 1996.

Jacobsen joined Encore Hollywood in 1999. His credits include DEADWOOD, NIP/TUCK and CHARMED as well as numerous commercials and music videos. A graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, he began his career with CONUS Communications and also worked at the post houses Selluloid, Editel and Hollywood Digital.

Goldscher has worked at Encore Hollywood in a variety of roles for a total of 10 years. His background also includes posts with Unitel Video and Todd AO Video Services.
