BUCK teamed with Blur Studio to create the opening titles and episode title sequences for Secret Level, the new animated anthology series that just started streaming at Prime Video. The series follows a gamer’s journey over 15 short episodes, each based on a different video game spanning the past, present, and future of gaming.

According to BUCK, the sequences were inspired by pixels and cubes, fundamental building blocks of video games, to unify the show’s many universes with one essential theme. When developing a brand logotype for the show, the “E” became a central part of the branding, with its three horizontal lines separated out to represent the levels.

BUCK developed a unique look, beginning with flat retro games like Pong, through fantasy, to modern-day sci-fi MMORPGs. The company brought the thematic cube world into the episode openers, creating six genre titles to represent the gaming genres: Player Vs. Player, Platformer, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mech Action, and Fighting.

Ben Langsfeld acts as executive creative director for BUCK. David Hobizal serves as animation lead on the project, with 2D animation and compositing by Hobizal, Hannah Sun, and Joyce N. Ho. The 3D animated elements are created by Hobizal, Sun, Jesseter Wang, Hogan Williams, and Daniel Oeffinger.

Secret Level is created and executive produced by Tim Miller. Dave Wilson serves as executive producer and supervising director. The series streams on Prime Video now, with two weekly episode drops.
