Cartoon Art Museum Announces Winter Workshops

Cartoon Art Museum cartooning workshops for kids, teens and adults to be held December 28 & 30.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA --Jumpstart your child's imagination, or your own, this winter with a Cartoon Art Museum cartooning workshop! The Cartoon Art Museum has revitalized its educational programming, including popular Parent + Child classes, with new opportunities and instructors. The holiday class schedule this year includes intermediate teen classes and beginner adult classes hosted at the Cartoon Art Museum's education center at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center in SOMA.

“We’re excited to keep our programming active this winter, and we’re using this opportunity to offer new classes for our patrons,” said Programs Coordinator Nina Taylor Kester. “We’re also excited to see the interest in classes as gifts for loved ones leading up to the holidays.”

Parent+Child Class: Space Heroes 
Date: Monday, December 28, 2015
Time: 10:30am to noon
Location: 275 Fifth Street, San Francisco

Cost: $10 per student

Age: For kids ages 7 to 12 and their responsible parent or guardian (18+). Please no more than 2 kids per adult. Adults must be accompanied by a child to participate.

  • Kids and their Parents will work together to create their own sci-fi superhero! Students will learn how to draw the character’s amazing adventures here on Earth or beyond the stars!

Full-Grown Cartooning: Beginner Character Design for Adults
Date: Monday, December 28, 2015
Time: 1pm to 3pm
Location: 275 Fifth Street, San Francisco

Cost: $35 per student

  • It’s never too late to start cartooning! Learn to create your own cartoon characters by combining basic shapes to form characters. Give your characters depth and personality. Advance your existing skills or start from scratch! All levels welcome. 

Parent+Child Class: Cartoon Critters
Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2015
Time: 10:30am to noon
Location: 275 Fifth Street, San Francisco
Cost: $10 per student

  • Kids and their Parents will work together to learn how to draw cartoon animals of all types. Our students will explore shapes, patterns, and textures of the animal kingdom and will develop their own cartoon critters in this cartooning workshop.

Teen Class: Cast of Characters
Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2015
Time: 1pm to 3pm
Location: 275 Fifth Street, San Francisco

Cost: $35 per student

Ages: 12 – 18

  • Teens will take their cartooning to the next level in this character workshop! This class will focus on character construction and anatomy, posture, and use of reference material. Passive and avid doodlers alike are welcome to take advantage of this focused teen class.
