Cartoon Network names Spin Master the global toy partner for ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ marking the first licensing partner ahead of the highly-anticipated global franchise launch set for 2016.
“As we build our roster of partners to launch The Powerpuff Girls licensing program and introduce a new generation of fans to this cherished franchise, Spin Master embodies the qualities we’re looking to infuse into our products,” said Pete Yoder, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises, North America. “Working together, we’ve seen firsthand the level of innovation and excitement they bring to their products, and we’re confident that through play, The Powerpuff Girls toyline will empower fans of all ages to believe that like Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup, they, too, can save the world before bedtime.”
"The partnership between The Powerpuff Girls and Spin Master strengthens our strategic relationship with Cartoon Network that began with the launch of the award-winning Bakugan brand in 2008 and is the perfect brand to continue pushing the boundaries of fun for our consumers," says Craig Sims, Spin Master’s Vice President Global Licensing. "Together, we’re creating unexpected and highly interactive play experiences you won’t find anywhere else.”
With an all-new animated series produced by Cartoon Network Studios and a full worldwide licensing program, The Powerpuff Girls franchise launch will introduce a new generation of fans to one of the entertainment industries most beloved and enduring brands. During its original 78-episode run, the television series created by Craig McCracken earned two Emmy Awards along with five nominations, as well as countless animation honors. It also inspired a feature film in 2003, a tenth anniversary special, and a re-imagined CG special, “The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed” which aired on Cartoon Network in January 2014 and featured Ringo Starr. Additionally, The Powerpuff Girls licensing program is one of Cartoon Network’s top-grossing franchises ever, with more than $2.5 billion in retail sales generated since its debut, and it continues to inspire as a global fashion brand with numerous apparel partners and fashion collections around the world.
