Casey and Colin Jost to Pen Live-Action ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

The made-for-TV comedy brothers are breaking into the film business with their own adaptation of ‘TMNT’ for Paramount Pictures alongside franchise expert Michael Bay.

Cowabunga dudes! Forget all about the uncanny valley extravaganza that was the Michael Bay live-action adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in 2014 ( or the 2016 sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows), because according to Deadline, the Jost brothers are doing it again, and they’re doing it better. Hopefully. Made-for-television comedy experts Casey (Impractical Jokers) and Colin (Saturday Night Live, Worst Man) Jost are breaking into the film biz with their own live-action adaptation of TMNT for Paramount Pictures. Interestingly, Michael Bay will also be returning as producer. Third time’s the charm?

The pizza grubbing turtle dudes will also appear in theaters on August 2023, in shiny CG animation; the competing film, by both Nickelodeon and Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, marks the animation studio’s first-ever CG theatrical production. We’re guessing the Jost/Bay film will be a little more “adult,” with a lot more explosions.

Bay is joined by producers Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker. The live-action adaptation of TMNT currently has no official release date.
