The ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ host voices Violet in ‘Kate in Oz,’ a special episode of ‘Kate & Mim-Mim’ premiering November 14 on Disney Junior.
Actress, model and TV presenter Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance) is lending her voice to a special feature episode ‘Kate in Oz’ of the hit animated preschool series Kate & Mim-Mim. “Kate in Oz,” a mim-tastic take on the classic tale, will feature Deeley as wicked witch Violet and premieres on Disney Junior November 14th.
A star on both sides of the Atlantic, Deeley stars in the special episode that sees the series’ familiar characters journey to the Land of Oz during a thunderstorm. When Kate and Mim-Mim’s “twirl magic” is stolen by Violet (Deeley), a young witch who is stealing all of the purple in Oz for herself, Kate, her purple bunny playmate Mim-Mim and their friends embark on a quest to find the Wizard of Oz and ask for his help.
Deeley is no stranger to the animation process having previously voiced characters in The Simpsons, Johnny Bravo and Robots. “I knew I would have a great time voicing this and the fact that I got to play Violet, Kate’s nemesis, the baddie witch, made it even more interesting to me,” she says. “It’s always the baddies who have the most fun and I get to go to my slightly darker side for inspiration!”
Created by the award-winning husband and wife team Scott and Julie Stewart, Kate & Mim-Mim airs on CBeebies in the U.K., Disney Junior in the U.S. and more than 110 countries worldwide. A range of toys and other products have launched in the US and UK earlier this year. The series follows the adventures of Kate, a young girl who, together with her toy bunny Mim-Mim, travels to the fantasy world of Mimiloo, where Mim-Mim comes alive as a larger-than-life playmate! The 22-minute Kate & Mim-Mim special “Kate in Oz” will be transmitted on Disney Junior on November 14th.
FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment holds the exclusive worldwide TV distribution and licensing rights to the property outside of Canada. Kate & Mim-Mim is produced by DHX Media in association with FremantleMedia Kids & Family, CBeebies, BBC Kids and Knowledge:Kids.
