Chaosmonger Studio Reveals ‘ITALIA 2162’ Concept Trailer

The animated feature, which blends cyberpunk aesthetics with solarpunk optimism in a futuristic Italy full of contrasts, is available now for contributions on Kickstarter.

Chaosmonger Studio has revealed ITALIA 2162, an animated feature which blends cyberpunk aesthetics with solarpunk optimism, is currently in development. A concept trailer has also been released.

The futuristic film transports viewers to Italy in the 22nd century, where humanity has retreated into large city-states, leaving the countryside abandoned. The story follows Marco, a shy dreamer, on a journey that will change his life. Alongside him is Layla, a bold and resourceful girl; Fly-O, Marco's inseparable flying robot; and Dante-42, a tall and somewhat clumsy agricultural robot.

ITALIA 2162 celebrates the beauty of craftsmanship and human talent. All the concept art was initially hand-drawn on paper, then transformed into 3D models with hand-painted textures. This approach gives the film a unique aesthetic, combining the depth of modern 3D technologies with the charm of traditional animation.

“With ITALIA 2162, I wanted to create a world that is as fantastic as it is human, merging cyberpunk aesthetics with solarpunk optimism,” said creator, director, and writer Nicola Piovesan. “It’s an ambitious project, but above all, it’s an emotional journey of self-discovery and the possibilities of a better future. I believe this film can speak to both animation fans and those seeking deep and engaging stories.”

To support the project and help bring this vision to the big screen, Chaosmonger Studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign. The funds raised will be used to complete the initial development of the film.
