Press Release from Manic
Manic is pleased to announce the hiring of John Clausing as their new Director of CGI. An expert in modeling, animation, texturing, lighting, and miscellaneous special effects for broadcast, pre-vis, and film, Clausing will guide Manic's CGI team, coordinate with Manic VFX Artists, and collaborate with Creative Director Fran Roberts and Managing Director Bob Cagliero in navigating the studio's strategic direction.
Spots for Olay, Optimum, Martell, Kohl's, Centrum, Bombay Sapphire, Samsung, Panasonic, Monday Night Football, M&M's, Sprint, Lucent, Kotex, Jeep, Kodak, Gillette, and Oral-B highlight a portfolio that includes on-air graphics and promo buttons for NBC and CBS. Clausing has collaborated with a slate of top agencies, including Saatchi, BBDO Worldwide and TWBA\Chiat\Day, amongst others.
"Manic's 3D and 2D capacity has evolved considerably and quickly in the past year," noted Manic MD Bob Cagliero. "With the rapid growth of this department came the obvious need for someone to oversee and orchestrate the workflow. John has tremendous heritage in doing just that and will be a great liaison to our creative director and artists."
Prior to joining Manic, Clausing spent time as senior 3D animator at Headlight, as an animation director/senior graphic artist at Code F/X, and as jack-of-all-trades at Charlex. He has freelanced as an animator and generalist for Psyop, Superfad, Smoke & Mirrors, UVPhactory, Spontaneous, Click 3X, QuietMan, Treehouse, Food Network, CBS and NBC, among others.
"I've literally worked all over the industry," noted Clausing. "And I knew it was time to find a permanent home. Manic is the perfect fit - they're experienced, talented, and rapidly evolving. Plus I've worked with their team on a number of previous projects, so I know we have good chemistry together, and that can only get better once we've established a day-to-day relationship."
