Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, Cartoon Network gave an exclusive sneak peek of three brand-new original comedies from Cartoon Network Studios, including Pete Browngardt’s Uncle Grandpa, Skyler Page’s Clarence, and Rebecca Sugar’s highly anticipated Steven Universe.
All three new animated series were created as part of the shorts development initiative at Cartoon Network Studios.
Uncle Grandpa, fromcreator Pete Browngardt, is about a lovable, mystical problem-solver in suspenders and a beanie. Clarence is about an optimistic boy who wants to do everything. Slated to debut in Fall 2013, Steven Universe is a coming-of-age story told from the perspective of Steven, the youngest member of a team of magical Guardians of the Universe. The animated series is created by Emmy and Annie Award-nominated writer and storyboard artist Rebecca Sugar (Adventure Time), and marks the first Cartoon Network series to be created by a woman.
In addition to a never-before-seen Uncle Grandpa short, “Fishin' with Uncle Grandpa,” the panel audience was treated to this sneak peek at Steven Universe:
