Cottonwood Media and Federation Entertainment have entered a long-term corporate partnership to deliver premium creator-driven TV content in North America and Europe, according to a report by Kidscreen.

Cottonwood Media is run by David Michel, who left Zodiak’s Marathon Media animation arm last year to launch the new company. Since launching in September, Cottonwood has successfully sold two animated series -- The Ollie & Moon Show and Squish -- based on Random House Children’s Books properties, and currently has four more series and a feature film in development.

Federation Entertainment was launched as a global mini-studio by former Zodiak CEO Pascal Breton in 2014. The deal makes Federation a key shareholder in Cottonwood Media, and Michel will join Federation as a founding partner and head of kids and family programs and sales. Previously focused primarily on adult dramas, Federation is now also open to animation opportunities through its new association with Cottonwood.
