The creative lead talent on the company’s newest round of work for Samsung and Cheil Worldwide and the Galaxy S5 phone, Sean Starkweather is named creative director at Stardust.
Santa Monica, CA & New York -- Stardust, the bicoastal integrated production and design firm, has welcomed Creative Director Sean Starkweather to the company’s team. Starkweather was the creative lead talent on the company’s newest round of work for Samsung and Cheil Worldwide and the Galaxy S5 phone.
“Sean is part of Stardust’s continued growth and commitment to doing inspired work,” explains Creative Director/Partner Seth Epstein. “He has a unique mix of deep technical and creative abilities, which translated into work like the recent Samsung campaign. Sean is a great collaborator and really easy to work with, while he continues to push design and animation to the next level.”
“I have long been a fan of what Sean was up to with SDF/1 and Blacklist,” adds Dexton Deboree, Managing Director/Partner for Stardust. “Sean is a strong talent who's extremely versed on the box. So much of his leadership strength comes from his vast experience and ability to jump in and articulate his direction in real time; versus remaining theoretical and working around or against specific knowledge he does not have. Artists respect him for this and projects benefit tremendously. He is a strong asset to our growing team here at Stardust, and we're excited to have him play an instrumental part of our evolving creative offering.”
Stardust Creative Director Sean Starkweather studied Graphic Design at Art Center College of Design. After graduating in 2006, he worked as an Art Director and Lead Animator at some of the top motion design studios in Los Angeles, including Blind and Logan, completing projects for clients such as Apple, Konami, Nike, Adidas, and Coca Cola. Sean also worked on feature film titles for “Up in the Air” and “The September Issue.” In 2009, Sean founded SDF/1, a design and animation studio in Santa Monica, where he completed creative direction on campaigns for Toyota, Yahoo!, Blackberry RIM, Microsoft, Hyundai, US Cellular, and BP.
“The Stardust crew is a super talented and genuinely fun group of people to work with,” concludes Starkweather. “I’m honored to be a part of this early phase of the company’s new direction and ownership. I’m looking forward to being a strong voice in Stardust’s creative strategy, as well as its technical approach and company culture.”
