Debut of DaVinci Resolve 15 Tops Tech Debuts at NAB

In addition to VFX integration for the Blackmagic Design tool, major updates and demos were presented by NextComputing and SGO.

Blackmagic Design unveiled at NAB 2018 VFX integration in DaVinci Resolve 15.

LAS VEGAS -- As the NAB Show heads toward the conclusion April 12 of its 2018 edition, here are notable announcements from the show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

  • Blackmagic Design unveiled DaVinci Resolve 15, featuring a massive update to the software that includes an entirely new Fusion page that fully integrates visual effects and motion graphics. Resolve 15 is the world’s first solution to combine professional offline and online editing, color correction, audio post production, multi user collaboration and now visual effects together in one software tool. A public beta of DaVinci Resolve 15 will be available today and for immediate download from the Blackmagic Design website.
  • NextComputing demonstrated live production and post-production solutions for the Samsung 360 Round professional 3D 360-degree virtual reality camera. Together, NextComputing’s family of validated, high-performance digital production systems and the IP65-rated 360 Round camera can be deployed to film in the most challenging environments and workflows.   • SGO introduced Mistika Review as a part of its natively integrated multidimensional workflow concept. Mistika Review enables reliable real-time playback and review of VFX shots or clips, supporting many native file types, resolutions, frame rates and color spaces. This facilitates efficient and optimized post-production workflows of even the most demanding UHD, 8K, HDR, HFR and VR/360o projects.
