Guillermo del Toro is set to write and direct TROLLHUNTERS for DreamWorks Animation, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, Del Toro will work as a consultant and exec producer on such projects as MEGAMIND, KUNG FU PANDA 2 and PUSS IN BOOTS.
Del Toro said the title is tentative and the story deals with kids discovering the hidden world of fairy tale lore in the modern world. Del Toro has already penned a book version of the story.
Del Toro's longtime cinematographer Guillermo Navarro, who worked on the MADAGASCAR films, was the one who encourages Del Toro to move into animation at DreamWorks.
