According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Digital Domain is going public. Digital Domain Media Group Inc., the Venice vfx house’s parent company, announced in a regulatory filing Monday that it’s looking to raise $115 million in an IPO, slated for some time this summer. Expected use of the proceeds including paying down company debt and financing operations.
The company has a feature animation division in Port Lucie, Florida as well as the well-known vfx studio in Venice, California, which has done some spectacular work on recent feature films such as Thor, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the Transformer movies.
The company has also been doing 3-D conversion work at its Vancouver, Canada studio.
