Digital Domain Wins AICP VFX Award

Digital Domain and its commercial production company Mothership were honored by the AICP at Tuesday night's 2012 AICP Show held at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City for Nike “Biomorph.”

Venice, CA -- Digital Domain and its commercial production company Mothership were honored by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) at Tuesday night's 2012 AICP Show held at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. Nike "Biomorph," a 51-second short conceptualized, designed and directed by Mothership's David Rosenbaum for Nike, with visual effects by Digital Domain, was recognized in the Visual Effects category. Digital Domain's Aladino Debert served as visual effects supervisor on the spot.

The AICP Show, a compendium of The Art & Technique of the American Commercial and the Next Awards, honors the best in commercial advertising across a variety of categories. Each year the honored work becomes part of the archives of the Department of Film at MoMA. Following its premiere, the Show will tour museums and cultural institutions around the country and abroad. This year's honorees - along with the entire Show archive -- can be viewed at www.aicpshow.com.

Work from Digital Domain and Mothership made the shortlist in six 2012 AICP Show categories overall. In addition to its recognition in the Visual Effects category, Nike "Biomorph" was shortlisted in the Design category, while the Mercedes' "Escape the Map" augmented reality campaign and game trailer "Halo 4: Awakening" were shortlisted in the Visual Effects category. The "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" game trailer was shortlisted in the Visual Effects and Animation categories. Mercedes' "Escape the Map" was directed by Carl Rinsch of RSA with visual effects from Digital Domain led by visual effects supervisor Jay Barton. "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" was directed by Mothership's Neil Huxley with visual effects from Digital Domain, led by visual effects supervisor Richard Morton. "Halo 4: Awakening" was directed by Joseph Kosinski of Anonymous Content, with visual effects by Digital Domain, led by visual effects supervisor Eric Barba.
