What a busy week! RETURN OF THE KING swept the Academy Awards on Sunday with a record-tying 11 Oscars, while FINDING NEMO and HARVIE KRUMPET took the animation honors. Then today the great Disney showdown finally took place at the annual shareholder meeting in Philadelphia, with more than 43% voting against retaining Michael Eisner as chairman and ceo. Of course, it didn't help that the site was down for a few hours, but we're back up and running smoothly now. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The question is: What happens next? Whatever the outcome, it won't be business as usual for Eisner or the Magic Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman of Playtone will partner with IMAX on the large-format 3D movie MAGNIFICENT DESOLATION, which will utilize historical NASA moon voyage footage and new CGI to tell the story of "humankind's most incredible road trip." And New York's rhinofx is launching its own previs division in an effort to keep up with the hectic vfx demand.
