Disney+ and Hulu Now Streaming ‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’

Manga and anime production house VIZ Media has partnered with both platforms to debut the series, officially serving as the end of the ‘Bleach’ arc.

Manga and anime production house VIZ Media has named Disney+ and Hulu as the official streaming platforms for the fantasy adventure Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, created by mangaka legend Tite Kubo. Bleach is now available on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the U.S.

In a statement about the famed author, Chief Marketing Officer of VIZ Media Brad Woods said, “Through his visual genius, Tite Kubo has had an indelible impact on the fandom world and the course of manga and anime history. He is also a supremely gifted and accomplished storyteller, and it is a great honor for VIZ Media to acquire this final arc in his legendary catalogue Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, for fans everywhere.”

The series cast includes Masakazu Morita as Ichigo Kurosaki; Fumiko Orikasa as Rukia Kuchiki; Noriaki Sugiyama as Uryu Ishida; Yuki Matsuoka as Orihime Inoue; and Hiroki Yasumoto as Yasutora Sado (Chad).

Continuing from the events of the Bleach anime series, Blood War follows Ichigo Kurosaki and his Soul Reaper companions' battle against Yhwach and his despicable Quincy army. When new Soul Reapers and a new enemy appear in his hometown of Karakura, Ichigo jumps back into the battlefield with his Zanpakuto to help those in need. Led by Yhwach, the father of all Quincies, the Wandenreich declare war against the Soul Reapers with the following message: “Five days from now, the Soul Society will be annihilated by the Wandenreich.” With that, Ichigo Kurosaki’s final battle begins!

An award-winning and best-selling manga series, Bleach has over 130 million copies in print since its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump (2.7 million copies in the U.S.), while the anime produced 366 episodes and today is revered as one of the greatest long standing anime series of all time. In addition to the critically acclaimed manga and legendary anime, the Bleach universe includes video games, musicals, and a live-action film adaptation.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War was written and supervised by Tite Kubo and directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, with character design by Masashi Kudo and music by Shiro Sagisu.
