Disney Releases Seven-Minute First Look at ‘Star Wars Rebels’

Disney releases a sneak peek at the first seven minutes of the upcoming animated series ‘Star Wars Rebels’ onto the web.

Disney has released a sneak peek at the first seven minutes of the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels onto the web.

In this special extended preview of Star Wars Rebels, which first aired Monday night on Disney XD following the premiere of Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars, the Empire arrives on Lothal -- bringing tyranny with them. Imperials and stormtroopers establish an intimidating presence on the planet, enforcing strict new laws for trade and arresting citizens for expressing dissent of any kind. A young boy named Ezra, however, discovers that a mysterious group is attempting to steal cargo from the Empire. Intrigued, he tries to take it for himself -- and ends up on the run from both Imperials and this small band of rebels.

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope, which spans about two decades. The animated series is set "in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape."

Star Wars Rebels will premiere in the fall as a one-hour special on Disney Channel before debuting as a series on sister channel Disney XD worldwide. Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo and Billy Dee Williams are the voice stars.
