DreamWorks Animation’s ‘The Bad Guys’ Lands All-Star Cast

Awkwafina, Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, and Emmy Award winner Alex Borstein among stars added to upcoming animated feature film adaptation of Aaron Blabey’s book series about notorious bad guys going good; movie debuts April 15, 2022.

Dreamworks Animation has just announced the all-star cast for its upcoming original animated feature, The Bad Guys coming April 15, 2022. Boarding the comedy are Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri); Awkwafina (The Farewell and Marvel's Shang-Chi); Marc Maron (Glow); Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine); Anthony Ramos (In the Heights); Richard Ayoade (Paddington 2); Zazie Beetz (Joker); Lilly Singh (Bad Moms); and Emmy Award winner Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

The Bad Guys, based on the New York Times best-selling Scholastic book series by Aaron Blabey, is an action-packed heist for all ages that follows a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws as they attempt their most challenging con yet - becoming model citizens.

After a lifetime of pulling legendary heists, five notorious bad guys - Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula - attempt their most challenging job yet… going good. Nobody has ever failed so hard at trying to be good as The Bad Guys.

The film is directed by Pierre Perifel (director, DWA’s award-winning short Bilby; animator, the Kung Fu Panda films), making his feature-directing debut; produced by Damon Ross (co-producer, Nacho Libre) and Rebecca Huntley (co-producer Abominable, associate producer, The Boss Baby); and executive produced by Blabey, Etan Cohen, and Patrick Hughes.
