Already in theaters in 41 international markets, DreamWorks Animation’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ has grossed $84.4 million to date.

Written and directed by Dean DeBlois and featuring the voices of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson and F. Murray Abraham, ‘How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ arrives in U.S. theaters on February 22.

Universal Pictures and Fandango teamed to offer exclusive early-access screenings on Saturday, February 2, of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World -- the third chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises of all time.

Nearly three weeks before the film’s February 22 North American theatrical release date, Fandango customers were offered early-access screenings at select AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas, Cinemark Theatres, Marcus Theaters, Harkins Theatres, Southern Theatres, National Amusements, B & B Theatres, and many more. With these exclusive screenings in approximately 1,000 theaters, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World grossed $2.5 million -- more than the Amazon Prime previews of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, which managed, $1.86 million and $1.28 million, respectively.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World has already released in 41 international markets, opening at number one in 34 of them, and has grossed $84.4 million to date. The Hidden World was also the number-one film at the international box office this weekend with $40.2 million. The first two instalments of the franchise together have grossed more than $1 billion at the global box office.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World currently sits at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and has been hailed as a triumph by critics around the globe.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is a worthy conclusion to a much-loved trilogy, and we’re proud to partner with Fandango to bring our first DreamWorks Animation release to theaters in this exclusive engagement,” said Jim Orr, President, Domestic Distribution, Universal Pictures. “We saw sold-out shows nationwide, and the overwhelming response -- three weeks ahead of our wide release -- is very promising.”

“Thanks to our expansive network of dedicated theaters and to Universal Pictures for helping us bring the final chapter of the beloved How to Train Your Dragon trilogy to fans twenty days before its release date,” said Fandango President Paul Yanover. “We’ve been thrilled with the response from hundreds of thousands of fans to our exclusive early access screening and look forward to bringing Fandango VIP members more exciting screening opportunities in the future.”
