DreamWorks CG Short ‘Marooned’ Coming to AMC Theatres

Studio’s latest Shorts Program effort will run in front of favorite films screened as part of theatre chain’s August 23-29 DreamWorks Animation Week celebration.

DreamWorks Animation’s latest animated short, Marooned, the third film in the DreamWorks Shorts program launched in November 2017, is coming to AMC Theatres – Andrew Erekson’s stylized look at the not too distant future will run in front of every studio feature screened as part of the theatre chain’s August 23-29 DreamWorks Animation Week celebration

The 7:35 CG film, which had its world premiere this past June at Annecy and was screened last month as part of the SIGGRAPH Electronic Theatre, tells the story of a cantankerous and selfish robot named, C-0R13. Stranded on an abandoned lunar outpost, C-0R13 longs to return to Earth. With a partially built ship and his last power source, this determined robot will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. When C-0R13 accidentally stumbles on a deactivated robot named A-L1C1A, his character and his mission are put to the test when his naive little friend helps him learn what it truly means to be selfless.

The short is directed by Erekson and produced by Jeff Hermann, with music by Amie Doherty. Hermann, currently producing the studio’s Boss Baby sequel, The Boss Baby 2 alongside returning director Tom McGrath, also produced the first two films in the shorts program, Bird Karma and Bilby, as well as co-produced the animated comedy hit, Kung Fu Panda 3.
