DreamWorks COO Stepping Down

DreamWorks coo Helene Hahn is resigning her post after 10 years with the company, reports VARIETY. She long been considered one of the top female execs and has been a partner with DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenberg for more than 30 years. She will remain coo until a replacement can be found and will act as a consultant for a year following her departure.

The reasons for the move include DreamWorks upcoming IPO of its animation division, which have changed her role with the studio as well as the fact that since marrying she has been living in Park City, Utah. Her resignation has been in the works for nearly a year and she is helping the search for her replacement.

Hahn first met Katzenberg while at Paramount then moved to Disney when he moved to take over the animation studio there. She joined DreamWorks as co-coo with Ron Nelson, when it was founded in 1994. After Nelson left the studio in January 2003, Hahn became sole coo. At Disney, she served as evp of Walt Disney Studios for eight years and prior to that she was svp, business and legal affairs for Walt Disney Pictures for three years. While at Paramount Pictures, she started as a staff attorney and later became business affairs director in 1980, vp in 1981 and svp in 1983.
