Press Release from DUCK
Making sure the lights come on when you flip the living room switch is no simple operation, as DUCK Studios Simon Blake shows in an ethereal six-spot mixed media campaign for Entergy Corporation promoting the various intertwined aspects of the company's operations. The series of :30s, which explores topics from storm preparation to environmental and energy conservation, is a flawless merger of dueling images from two separate shots onto one screen, providing a vivid montage of live action and electrical imagery. Industrious Entergy workers - from hard-hat maintenance men working in the field to behind-the-scenes engineers to the front-office support staff - detail the company's efforts in each area as they share the screen with towering phone lines, gauges, light bulbs, and other industry hardware.
Safety Residential is typical of the informative spots: it opens with a man standing in his yard, the image of snaking power lines transposed on the screen, asking how close he can get to the electric wire streaming into his house. A platoon of earnest Entergy workers follows - each sharing the screen with Entergy's equipment - warning him that power lines can kill and to keep his distance.
Efficiency is the same sort of dynamic mix of images, launching with a woman on her staircase, offering to turn down her thermostat but wondering what Entergy is doing to reduce her electric bill. The sprawling crew returns alongside an ever-changing mix of charts, wall plugs, and control stations, to assure her that the company is keeping fuel costs low, offering level billing, providing energy-saving tips, and more to keep her energy bill down.
