The Chicago International Children's Film Festival (CICFF) 2005Chicago, Illinois, USAOctober 27 - November 6, 2005Deadline: May 31, 2005

The Chicago International Children's Film Festival (CICFF) is an annual, competitive film festival presented by Facets Multi-Media Inc. The event is the largest festival of children's films in North America. An adult and children's jury will hand out awards for animated features and shorts. The festival also features a category for child-produced films.

The only Academy-qualifying children's festival in the world, the CICFF invites entries in the following categories: live-action and animated features and shorts, documentaries and television series and child-produced work. Known as "Cannes for Kids, the CICFF shows more than 200 films from 40 countries and hosts 150 directors from around the world who meet their audiences face to face and hold post-film discussions.

To be considered, submissions must have a production date of 2005, 2004 or 2003. A selection committee consisting of children and adults reviews all entries before final decisions are made. Three adult juries and two children's juries will judge films chosen for competition. The Montgomery Jury will award two cash prizes of $2500 each; a prize for the best film by an Emerging Director and a prize for the best film produced by a child or a team of children. The CICFF's coveted BEST OF FEST prize, also $2,500, is awarded on the basis of popular vote.

The early deadline for submission to the 2005 CICFF is May 1, 2005. For short film or video under 60 minutes the entry fee is $40 and $80 for feature length film or video longer than 60 minutes. There is no entry fee for submissions by filmmakers aged 6 to 13. From May 1 to May 31, entry fees increase by $10.
