Santa Monica, CA (December 13, 2010) - Entity FX is looking forward to seeing a variety of the company's digital visual effects playing in stereoscopic 3D for the theatrical feature release Yogi Bear (Warner Bros. Pictures). Directed by Eric Brevig, the live-action motion picture (in release December 17) sees Yogi and Boo Boo (voiced by Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake, respectively) bringing their "smarter-than-the-average" talents to bear in an effort to save a financially strapped Jellystone Park.
Work completed by Entity FX integrates perfectly with the production's 3D stereo photography, with computer-generated water, leaves, sparks, popcorn and a whole fireworks show all zooming toward the audience for maximum comic and visual impact. In one sequence, Yogi's over-enthusiastic water-skiing performance prematurely ignites and misdirects the park's centennial fireworks display. Spectators who had expected to be dazzled by exploding rockets now find themselves targeted by them. As the crowd flees in panic, dozens of errant (CG) rockets fly at and past camera - exploding on water, trees, structures and picnic blankets.
The scene utilized Entity's in-house particle control system to generate photo-real pyro and smoke to seamlessly match with practical elements, sometimes combining both in the same shot. The scene also required extensive greenscreen compositing, sky replacement and image adjustment of the live photography to ensure left eye/right eye congruence and depth cue consistency.
In addition to work on Yogi Bear, other notable recent Entity FX motion picture projects include visual effects for the recently released Conviction as well as the upcoming Dreamworks sci-fi action film I Am Number Four. Recent TV work includes The Good Guys, a completely synthetic urban environment for the December 18th episode of Burn Notice and all visual effects for The Vampire Diaries, highlighted by Season 2's wolf and werewolf transformation effects. Entity FX's slate also continues to include all visual effects for television series such as Smallville and Hellcats.
