London-based visual effects company expands its commercial output with CG animation studio behind the animated visual sculpture for the 2015 Chemical Brothers’ tour.
LONDON -- London-based visual effects company Finish has announced the acquisition of Realise Studio, expanding on its strong commercial output with creative visual content across TV, features, VR, animation and special projects.
Finish founders Jason Watts and Justine White have a long-standing working relationship with Realise Studio founder Paul Simpson. Both companies were founded on the “boutique” philosophy, delivering quality work to rival big industry names and trailblazing the way for the creative owner-managed post house. Finish will now offer clients even more unique solutions for content and post production through the acquisition of Realise Studio.
“We are incredibly excited to bring the creative talents of Realise into Finish,” commented Watts, who serves as creative director at Finish. “Paul and his team are a rare talent, they combine great creative skill and technical understanding in equal measure. The work speaks for itself.”
Started in 1996 Realise Studio has built a reputation for high-end creative visual and innovative CGI, working with many distinguished directors including Juan Cabral, Fredrik Bond, Rankin, Matthew Vaughn, Shynola and the late Frank Budgen. The studio recently created an animated visual sculpture for the 2015 Chemical Brothers’ tour using a combination of motion capture and custom-built simulation software, and has worked on commercials such as Thompson “Simon the Ogre,” Carlsberg “The Ride” and Buchanan’s “The Illusionist.” Feature credits include Kingsman and Prince of Persia. Awards include MTV, British Arrow Crafts and Creative Circle as well as nominations for a Bafta and Emmy for their work on seasons 2 & 3 of TV drama series Da Vinci Demons.
“Realise Studio have always pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved visually with their use of customized software and development of existing technologies to deliver on ambitious ideas,” said White. “We’re thrilled to bring the team in and share our newly combined crew of amazing talent at Finish, made up of artists, creative directors, producers, colorists, VFX supervisors and directors for special projects.”
Finish artists hold British Arrow Crafts, Sharks, LIAA, and D&AD awards and recent work includes Danny Kleinman’s Beagle St, “Trousers” featuring a photo-real CGI talking dog, Warburton’s Muppets Christmas, Royal Blood’s promo Out of the Black directed by David Wilson.
“Combining the talents of both Realise Studio and Finish is a potent and exciting prospect for both our valued clients and staff alike,” added Simpson. “Jason and the Finish team have always been leading exponents in the London high-end post-production scene. We all are very much looking forward to the future working together.”
