Hyderabad-based Green Gold Animation has sold the India satellite rights for its 85-minute 2D animated feature VIKRAM AUR BETAAL to Cartoon Network, reports IndianTelevision.com. The feature is targeted at an 11+ audience.
Speaking exclusively to ANIMATION 'XPRESS, Greengold director Rajiv Chilakalpudi said, "We are extremely excited to be working with Cartoon Network on this. They have been extremely professional and cooperative, and we are happy that they are trying to do something for the Indian kids by buying Indian animation content. We would love to work with them on more original Indian projects in the future."
The film is based on the tale of a wise and brave king named Vikramaditya. A sage plots to kill King Vikramaditya by sending the royal into the jungle to retrieve the corpse of Betal, which is possessed by a very clever ghost who loves to tell stories and pose questions in order to test a persons wisdom and sense of justice.
Rajiv added, "Besides three scriptwriters, about 60 people have worked on the show for about nine months. The team of 60 people consisted of one show director, two animation directors, two storyboard artists, two character designers, two layout artists, four BG artists, 15 animators, 20 asst. animators, eight ink & paint artists and four digital compositors."
Green Gold Animation holds 100% rights to VIKRAM AUR BETAL in all countries and regions and fully financed the film.
